The family of late Nollywood veteran Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced the remaining activities for his burial rites and celebration of his legacy.
Ogogo died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026. His death was announced by fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko.
The late actor was buried according to Islamic rites in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24. Several colleagues and friends from the entertainment industry attended the burial, including Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko and Femi Adebayo.
Kosoko, who announced the family’s plans in a Facebook post on Wednesday, said the 8th-day Fidau Prayer for Ogogo would take place on Monday, August 31, in Ilaro.
The family also announced an Artists’ Day to mark the late actor’s life and contributions to the entertainment industry. The event will be held 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall in Ilaro.
Kosoko described the event as a “tradition and a fitting tribute from members of the entertainment industry” in honour of Ogogo.
The announcement, titled ‘Message of appreciation and announcement of the remaining burial programmes for Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, aka Ogogo,’ partly read:
“On behalf of the family of our late colleague, Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo HASSAN, a.k.a. Ogogo, I have the mandate of the family to express our profound appreciation to everyone who turned out en masse for his burial on Monday, 24th August 2026.
“The family also wishes to inform everyone of the remaining programmes to complete the burial rites of our beloved Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo HASSAN, a.k.a. Ogogo. The 8th-day Fidau Prayer will take place on Monday, 31st August 2026, at Ilaro.
“The family humbly appeals to all friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers to continue to rally around the family during this difficult period. We want you to come en masse to Ilaro so that together, we can offer our prayers for the peaceful repose of our beloved colleague and ask Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
Giving details of the Artists’ Day, the family said the event would bring together entertainers from different fields to celebrate Ogogo’s life and career.
“As part of the final activities to honour our late colleague, an Artists’ Day will be held 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro. This will be a special day of performances and entertainment featuring actors, musicians, comedians, singers, and other entertainers, who will come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo HASSAN, a.k.a. Ogogo. The programme will be coordinated by TAMPAN — Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria.”

Kosoko also expressed gratitude to those who attended the burial and supported the family during the difficult period.
He described their presence as a “great demonstration of the love and respect you had for Ogogo while he was alive. We sincerely appreciate every one of you.”
Ogogo’s death has continued to generate tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of the entertainment industry, many of whom have highlighted his role in the development of Yoruba-language cinema.
The actor began his career in the early 1980s and later established himself as a prominent figure in Yoruba Nollywood, working across acting, film production and filmmaking.
