Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has called for an end to the public dispute between the widow of late gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, known as Toluwanisings, and his family, urging both sides to prioritise peace and the welfare of his two children.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the actress appealed to members of the public to stop criticising the bereaved woman, stressing that she needs emotional support and privacy as she copes with the loss of her husband.
Aigbe noted that the widow had not only lost her partner but had also witnessed his death and must now face the responsibility of raising their two children without him.
“A young woman has suddenly lost her husband, the father of her two young children. Imagine the trauma of watching your husband die right before your eyes, then having to face the reality of raising your children without him,” she wrote.
She urged social media users to refrain from bullying the woman or demanding that she explain herself amid the controversy surrounding the singer’s death.
“At a time like this, she needs love, support, strength and the space to grieve. She does not need to be bullied, judged, dragged or made to defend herself before the court of public opinion.”
Addressing those attacking the widow, the actress urged them to consider the emotional burden she might be carrying and treat her with understanding.
“To everyone attacking this young widow, please, have a heart. You may never fully understand what she is going through. Let us be human. Let us show compassion,” she said.
Aigbe also appealed to the late singer’s paternal family to resolve their disagreements with his wife away from the public eye, noting that a peaceful resolution would honour his memory and protect their children from further distress.
“And to the family of the deceased, I appeal to you with all sincerity: please, for the sake of your son, his memory and the two innocent children he left behind, find a way to settle your differences with his wife privately and peacefully.”

The actress further criticised the continued disclosure of family matters through media interviews, arguing that public attention could make an already painful grieving process more difficult.
“Grief is already painful enough. Please stop granting interviews that expose private family matters to the public. Not every disagreement needs a microphone, and not every family issue needs to become content. Protect your son’s legacy. Protect his children. Protect the dignity of the woman who was his wife.”
She expressed hope that the bereaved family members would find a way to overcome their differences and focus on their shared loss.
“You are all grieving the same person. Whatever the disagreements may be, I pray you can find common ground and remember what truly matters,” she added.
Aigbe said the children should not have to grow up with memories of their father’s family being divided by public disputes following his death.
“Those two children deserve to grow up knowing that, even after their father’s passing, his family chose love, peace and unity over public conflict.”
Concluding her message, the actress prayed for strength and comfort for the widow and both families as they navigate the difficult period.
“Please, let this woman breathe. Let her heal. Let her gather the strength she needs to be there for her children. May God comfort both families and give this young widow the strength to face the days ahead.”
Toluwanisings died on October 14, 2026, in Ibadan, leaving behind his wife and two young children. His death has since been followed by public disagreements between his widow and his paternal family.
