The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members will receive an increased monthly allowance of N77,000 starting from February 2025.

NYSC: Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed made the disclosure on Thursday while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State, confirming that the increment has been included in the 2025 Federal Government budget and will take effect once it is passed.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he stated.
Government Commitment to Corps Members’ Welfare
The NYSC DG emphasized the government’s dedication to improving the welfare and security of corps members and urged them to reciprocate the gesture with diligent service to the nation.

Addressing security concerns, Ahmed assured corps members that they would not be posted to volatile areas, stating: “We will not send our corps members to any areas with security challenges. Wherever we send them, they should be assured that the place is safe and secure for them to serve.”
The news of the over 130% increase in corps members’ monthly stipend has sparked excitement across the country, as many see it as a major boost to youth empowerment and motivation for national service.
