The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 general election in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has been declared the winner of the poll in Katsina State.

The ex-Vice President was declared winner in the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari early on Monday.

Abubakar polled 489,045 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmedd Tinubu.

President Buhari was elected on the platform of the APC.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party scored 6,376 votes, while Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party polled 69,386 votes.

The INEC State Collation Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State, Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar, announced the result at the Collation Centre in Katsina.ju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who scored 482,283 votes.
