The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has passed away.
Zuru died on Monday night in a hospital in Egypt, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness. The circumstances surrounding his medical condition were not made public.
His death was confirmed by individuals close to the Kebbi State Government, though no official details about the illness were released.
Until his passing, he represented Zuru Constituency and was considered a prominent figure in the state legislature.
Confirming the development, Idris Zuru, an aide to the governor on Communication and Strategy, expressed shock over the news.
“The death of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, came to us as a rude shock. It is a painful loss not only to Kebbi State but to the entire nation,” he said.
He also noted that the government is still gathering details surrounding the incident and will provide further updates.

“We are still gathering full details surrounding his passing. The government will make an official statement and announce burial arrangements in consultation with the family,” Zuru stated.
Further information, including funeral arrangements, is expected to be announced by both the state government and the family.
