Brazilian football icon Neymar Jr. is on the verge of rejoining his first professional club, Santos, in what promises to be an emotional homecoming. Reports on Sunday suggest that the 32-year-old, currently with Saudi club Al Hilal, is finalizing the details of his return.

Sources indicate that Neymar’s contract with Al Hilal is likely to be terminated, with negotiations over the final terms ongoing. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that the superstar has already given his approval for the move, with formalities expected to be concluded in the coming week.
If completed, Neymar Jr. could feature for Santos as early as February 5, a date that coincides with his 33rd birthday, adding an emotional twist to his anticipated return to the pitch in Brazil.
Neymar Jr., who became the world’s most expensive footballer after a record-breaking transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, joined Al Hilal in the summer of 2023 for $97.6 million.
However, his time in Saudi Arabia was marred by injuries, limiting him to just seven appearances and a single goal in an AFC Champions League match last October.

The forward’s legacy at Santos remains strong, having burst onto the scene with the club in 2009. He led them to victory in the Copa Libertadores in 2011, marking their first triumph in the tournament since 1963. His performance in the final, including a decisive goal in a 2-1 win over Peñarol, cemented his status as a fan favorite.
At the international level, Neymar Jr. is Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals in 128 appearances. He also played a pivotal role in the country’s historic gold medal victory at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
As fans eagerly await Neymar’s potential return, his journey back to Santos signals a full-circle moment for the superstar, reigniting hopes of more iconic moments at his boyhood club.
