Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has introduced herself using her maiden surname, Osawaru, without including that of her celebrity husband, singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, during a legislative session on Tuesday.
The member representing Egor Constituency made the introduction in a video shared on her Instagram page. She identified herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing colleagues during plenary.
Her nameplate on the desk also displayed the Osawaru surname, with no reference to Idibia.
Osawaru, who serves as the minority leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, spoke during the session in support of a bill seeking to improve emergency response in the state.
“Mr Speaker, my name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, member representing the very great people of Egor Constituency and, by God’s grace, the minority leader of this House,” she said.
Explaining the need for the proposed legislation, she added, “Mr Speaker, as we speak, we have no strong, legally backed state agency that can respond proactively. Hence, this bill is timely.”
Her latest introduction differs from the one she gave in April 2025, when she included her husband’s surname during another plenary session.
“My name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osaworu, née Idibia,” she said in a video seen by TheCable before delivering her address at the time.
The development has drawn attention amid renewed public interest in the lawmaker’s relationship with 2Baba. Osawaru was notably absent from the singer’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party held in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The gathering attracted members of the musician’s family and several personalities from the entertainment industry.
Questions about the couple’s relationship have also resurfaced following a video that circulated online in August, appearing to show them engaged in a heated exchange at a nightclub in Abuja.

Osawaru married 2Baba in July 2025, following his separation from his former wife, actress Annie Macaulay Idibia. The couple later held a dedication ceremony for their first child together in February.
In another development, TheCable Lifestyle reported that 2Baba and Annie followed each other again on Instagram in August. The singer and Osawaru, however, subsequently unfollowed each other on the social media platform.
Neither the use of Osawaru’s surname during Tuesday’s plenary nor the couple’s social media activity establishes the status of their marriage.
