Nollywood actress Irewole Olaniyan has been drawn into a marital dispute after a woman identified as Mary Edris accused her of having an affair with her husband for about three years.
Edris made the allegation in a social media post which has since been deleted, claiming that she had previously confronted the actress privately about her alleged relationship with the man.
According to her, Olaniyan initially denied knowing that the man was married and reportedly described him as someone who was not her type. Edris also claimed the actress told her that she had blocked him.
However, the woman alleged that the relationship continued despite the confrontation.
She claimed her husband had been financially supporting Olaniyan’s film projects, travels and lifestyle, alleging that the actress travelled with him to South Africa in September 2024.
Edris further accused the actress of presenting a different image of herself online from what she claimed was happening privately.
She wrote, “Irewole Olaniyan is a trouble in my marriage!
“I’ve had enough; 3 years now, Ireland has been seeing my husband.
“I reached out to her personally as a lady to a lad, and she said she didn’t know he was married. This lady stays on my store street, knows my movements, knows when I’m at my store or home and claimed not to know the man is my husband.
“I let it go.
“She said he is not her type of man and called him all sorts of names, including that she blocked him.
“It doesn’t end there; she never stopped for years.
“This man has been behind her movie productions and her trips; they travelled to South Africa together in September 2024, and there were expensive bags and a lavish lifestyle.
“She portrays herself as a successful, hardworking, and consistent actress; meanwhile, she’s a home wrecker.
“I’ve had enough; I’ve talked like an adult, and I’ve been quiet, but she has pushed my patience to the limit.
“She has been a torment in my home/marriage.”

Edris also appealed to the actress to stay away from her family, claiming that her husband had already ended the relationship.
“Irewole Olaniyan, home wrecker.
“Irewole Olaniyan, Cynthia, stay away from my home.
“He’s dumped your ass, but you won’t let him be, calling him and texting him from different numbers.
“You’re always asking for money; you’re a leech. You are not what you portray to be; you’re a broke ass, and you know your lifestyle will have to be on hold; that’s why you kept begging him. Leave my family alone and stay away from us!”
Edris said she was aware that some of her relatives and friends might question her decision to make the matter public but explained that she had remained silent for a long time.
“I want to apologise to my family and friends who might seem disappointed in me for coming out this way, but just know I’ve held my peace for so long, anfeelsd if you haven’t been in my shoes, you wouldn’t know how it fits.
“I can’t take it anymore,” she added.
The woman also shared screenshots purportedly showing Olaniyan’s response to the allegations.
In the messages, the actress reportedly said she had ended her relationship with the man long ago and accused Edris of attempting to damage her reputation.
The allegations have sparked reactions online, with some social media users criticising the actress while others argued that responsibility should not rest solely on the alleged third party.

The claims made by Edris have not been independently established, while Olaniyan’s reported response disputes the account.
