Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about denying a romantic relationship with his wife, Mo Bimpe, before their marriage and how he eventually proposed to her.

Speaking on the With Chude Podcast, Adedimeji revealed that his proposal to Mo Bimpe happened over the phone, but she initially dismissed it due to their religious differences.
Lateef Adedimeji said, “I called her and told her I wanted to marry her. She joked about it, saying, ‘I can’t marry a Muslim; my dad won’t even hear of it.’”
“I called her and told her I wanted to ask her something, then I told her I wanted to marry her. She was just joking, like, ‘What is doing this one? Get out! I can’t marry a Muslim; are you okay? My daddy won’t even hear that.”
The actor then arranged to meet her father and asked for her hand in marriage, and eventually, he agreed. He continued: “Then I told her that we’d go see her dad, and I’d speak to him and calm him down. So we went to her village during one of their masquerade festivals, and towards the end, I asked to see her dad. I promised him that I’d take care of his daughter, and he said he’d pray and get back to me, and that was it.”
Determined, Lateef Adedimeji arranged to meet her father during a masquerade festival in her village. He assured her father of his intentions and received his blessing after he prayed over the matter.

The actor also clarified that they dated for only three months before tying the knot, contrary to fans’ assumptions of a long-term relationship. “That’s why I denied the dating rumors; it wasn’t as long as people thought,” he explained.
Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe are now celebrated as one of Nollywood’s favorite couples, proving that love can bridge differences.
