The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion following the commencement of reconstruction work at the Anthony Village Bus Stop corridor.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed the development in a statement shared via his X account on Tuesday, explaining that excavation has started to address the section of the road that has repeatedly deteriorated due to heavy rainfall.

According to him, the damaged stretch will be rebuilt with interlocking stones to provide a more durable and long-term solution.

“The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation wishes to inform the motoring public that excavation works are currently ongoing at Anthony Village Bus Stop.

“The project is aimed at providing a lasting solution to the section of the road that has been repeatedly damaged by heavy rainfall. As part of the intervention, the affected section will be reconstructed using interlocking stones to improve its durability,” the statement read.

To facilitate the reconstruction, the state government has introduced temporary traffic measures for motorists using the affected corridor.

Under the new arrangement, drivers travelling from Fadeyi who intend to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village will be unable to use that route while the project is ongoing.

Motorists heading towards Oshodi through the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane have also been advised to avoid the area. Instead, they should remain on the expressway and connect through another available route further ahead.

In addition, motorists travelling from Oshodi towards Anthony–Ikorodu Road via Anthony Village have been informed that there is currently no through road at the construction site.

The Ministry of Transportation urged road users to plan their trips ahead, avoid the Anthony Village Bus Stop and the affected service lane where possible, and use alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion during the reconstruction.

“The Lagos State Government appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all road users during the period of the project,” the statement added.
