This is good news from Nollywood actor Iyabo Ojo’s quarters. She is now a grandmother just as her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, and her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, have welcomed their first child together.
The couple, who tied the knot earlier this year, named their son Rakeem. The news first surfaced in a post by actress Kudirat Ogunro which has since been deleted.
Iyabo Ojo confirmed the birth on Instagram on Sunday, sharing a photo of herself with Priscilla in a hospital gown alongside the newborn.
“Say hello to the latest sexiest grandma in town, my grandson is the cutest @rakeem_mk! 🎉👵👦💃,” she wrote.
Actress Toyin Abraham also celebrated the arrival by sharing a photo of the couple on Instagram with dancing emojis.
Days ago, the couple hosted a gender reveal party in Tanzania where blue confetti confirmed they were expecting a boy.
On July 24, Priscilla and Juma announced in a joint Instagram post that they were expecting their first child.
They unveiled maternity photos in which Priscilla’s baby bump was on display. “MOM & DAD ✨ BLESSED • GRATEFUL • THANKFUL,” the couple captioned the post.
Following the announcement, Priscilla addressed critics she described as “womb watchers and calculators.”
She explained that she and Juma had married last year in a private Nikah ceremony before holding a public one to celebrate with friends and family.
On July 27, Iyabo Ojo, Lola Alao and friends organised a baby shower for Priscilla in Canada.
Juma Jux, born Juma Mkambala, is one of Tanzania’s leading music stars and a fashion entrepreneur. Priscilla, on her part, is a brand influencer and entrepreneur who has steadily built her name outside her mother’s Nollywood fame.
