Again, death has silenced the cadence of the day with the quiet of the night. It has claimed the life of Jide Tinubu. Yes, Jide, who was hale and hearty, died suddenly on Wednesday.
“He was not sick. As at last night, he was full of life. But we leave everything to God,” the source said to The Cable.
However, were an outpouring of eulogies and tears potent enough to rouse a dead man, Jide would have reconsidered spending a few more days before plunging into his eternal sleep. Alas, as family and friends converged on his parents’ house in Ikoyi, Lagos, for a condolence visit, the young and fun-loving dude who straddled the Lagos social milieu for years would never resurrect for a brief parting repartee. Very sad!
Though, a little is known about Jide, who is being confused in news reports with another Jide Tinubu, younger brother of Wale Tinubu, the CEO of Oando Plc. Wale’s brother is a maritime lawyer and promoter of TSL Limited.
Late Jide is a law graduate of the University of Liverpool, England. He obtained a Masters degree in Maritime Law from the University of London and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999.
The late lawyer had served as Promoter of TSL Limited and also worked in the Legal Department of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited from January 2000 to September 2001. Prior to this, he had brief stints with Cargo Maritime, Paris, France, a firm of shipbrokers that specialize in petroleum product tankers, and Ocean and Oil Services Ltd.
He died in the early hours of Wednesday, November 1, 2017
