Manchester City have confirmed that manager Pep Guardiola will leave the club at the end of the current season, bringing an end to his highly successful 10-year spell at the Etihad.

The club said Guardiola’s final match in charge will be on Sunday against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, marking the last fixture of the 2025/2026 Premier League campaign.

His departure comes days after City lost ground in the title race, effectively surrendering the Premier League crown to Arsenal following a draw with Bournemouth.

Guardiola, who has won 20 trophies during his time at City, said the decision was personal and not driven by any specific issue.

“There is no reason, but deep inside, I know it’s my time,” he said.

“And what a time we have had together. Don’t ask me the reasons I’m leaving. There is no reason, but deep inside, I know it’s my time. Nothing is eternal, if it was, I would be here. Eternal will be the feeling, the people, the memories, the love I have for my Manchester City,” he added.

Since arriving in June 2016, the Spanish tactician has become the most successful manager in the club’s history, winning 17 major trophies alongside three Community Shields.

His achievements include six Premier League titles, with an unprecedented run of four consecutive league wins, as well as the UEFA Champions League in 2023, which completed a historic treble that also featured the FA Cup.

Guardiola also secured five Carabao Cups and three FA Cups during his tenure, including a recent 1-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley.

He leaves City after a decade defined by domestic dominance, European success, and multiple record-breaking campaigns.
