Graham Potter Appointed West Ham Head Coach

West Ham United has announced the appointment of former Chelsea manager Graham Potter as their new head coach.

The 49-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and is set to take charge of his first game when the Hammers face Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on Friday evening.

In a statement released on Thursday, the club expressed excitement about Potter’s arrival:

“West Ham United is delighted to welcome Graham Potter as the club’s new head coach. The 49-year-old joins the Hammers on a two-and-a-half-year contract and will take charge of his new team for the first time when the Irons travel to Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on Friday evening.

Potter, known for his progressive tactical approach, previously impressed at Östersund in Sweden, Swansea City, and Brighton & Hove Albion. His appointment comes after he left Chelsea in April 2023 and has since been waiting for the right opportunity to return to management.

West Ham’s board described Potter as their “unanimous choice” to lead the club forward and expressed confidence in his ability to align with the team’s ambitions.

Further details about Potter’s plans and potential squad adjustments are expected in the coming days.
