She actually wept!
Yes, Funke Akindele, Nigeria’s popular actress and movie maker, today spoke up and wept on accusations that she neglected the late actress, Jumoke Aderounmu while on her sick bed.
Jumoke, popularly known for her role as Esther in Funke’s Jenifa’s Diary, died on April 6, 2024 after a brief illness.
As a result, Funke also shared her condolences and mourned the deceased in an Instagram post on Monday.
But Jumoke’s brother, Adeolu Aderounmu, wouldn’t have that. Rather, he took to Instagram and labeled Funke Akindele a “hypocrite.”
According to him, when Jumoke was sick, the deceased reached out to Funke several times but the Omo Ghetto star did not get back to her.
Meabwhile, many social media users joined Jumoke’s brother to criticise Funke.
However, speaking in an Instagram live session on Tuesday, Funke stated that she reached out to Jumoke’s brother after seeing his post but the latter ignored her message.
Moreover, Funke revealed that a troll posted in her comment section that she (Funke) would bury her children. That must have infuriated her and she wept!
According to Akindele, she wasn’t informed of Jumoke’s illness and at a point, she was worried about not hearing from her ; that compelled her to contact another actor, Jide Awobona to get in touch with the deceased.
The backlash still ongoing especially with the post on a gossip blog that insinuated that Funke was one of those who contributed to Jumoke’s sudden death.
“I sent a message to that guy, Jumoke’s brother, he saw it, but he didn’t reply. I am so so sorry. I tried,” she said as she broke down in tears.
The mother of two lamented the backlash she received from those who accused her of not checking on Jumoke, adding that one of the trolls said she would bury her children.
