The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the first batch of nominations for the 98th Academy Awards, signalling the official start of the 2026 Oscars season.
Actors Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks announced the nominees, with projects from directors Paul Thomas Anderson and Ryan Coogler quickly emerging as early standouts. One Battle After Another and Sinners are already being widely regarded as front-runners in several top categories.
The Academy also confirmed that the 2026 Oscars ceremony will take place on March 15. In addition, Conan O’Brien has been named as the host, returning to the stage after his previous appearance as master of ceremonies.
