Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He confirmed his defection on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Speaking to attendees, Fubara explained the rationale behind his move: “This decision reflects my commitment to ensuring stable governance and aligning with partners who support the progress of Rivers State.”

The announcement comes after months of political tension in Rivers State and represents a major shift in the state’s political landscape. Analysts predict that Fubara’s defection could reshape alliances and influence key political decisions in the region ahead of future elections.
This development is expected to draw reactions from political figures both within and beyond the state, as stakeholders adjust to the new dynamics introduced by the governor’s switch to the APC.
