Fidelity Bank Plc has strengthened its commitment to community safety and sustainable practices by donating essential firefighting equipment, including hoses and gasoline water pumps, to the Ikoyi Fire Service Station in Lagos.
The donation, made through the Fidelity Helping Hands Program (FHHP) by the bank’s True Serve team, highlights Fidelity Bank’s ongoing effort to support emergency response capabilities and safeguard lives and property. The FHHP empowers staff to identify critical community needs, raise funds, and receive matching support from the bank to implement the initiatives.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, said, “Fidelity Bank remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the protection of our environment, lives and property. We see community safety as a shared responsibility and continuously extend support to both corporate bodies and individuals.”
He further emphasized the importance of preventive measures, noting, “We believe that preventive measures are far more effective than reactionary responses. This donation is part of our efforts to drive sustainable practices by providing the necessary tools. Our goal is to ensure that people live meaningful, safe, and empowered lives.”
In response, Funke Adebayo, Lagos State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, praised the bank for the timely donation while urging residents to exercise caution during the dry season. “We appreciate Fidelity Bank for this timely donation. We are in a harsh weather period where fire incidents can escalate quickly. Parents must educate and caution children against the use of fireworks during celebrations. Fire should never be treated carelessly,” she said. Adebayo added that the Fire Service is conducting sensitization visits to corporate organizations to prevent avoidable fire outbreaks.
