The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.

This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

A Season of Reflection and Unity

Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity, which are central to the festive season. He highlighted the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening bonds within families and communities.

“The Christmas season is a time for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” the Minister said.

Commitment to National Progress

He also called for a collective commitment to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, expressing the Federal Government’s dedication to ensuring security, prosperity, and the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025, expressing optimism for a brighter future and a robust economy in the coming year.
