Lagos State lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency 1, Desmond Elliot, has apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, over his conduct during the All Progressives Congress primary election in May.
A video circulating on social media shows the actor-turned-politician kneeling before Gbajabiamila while asking for forgiveness.
Speaking in the video, Elliot admitted that he had no justification for his actions and expressed remorse to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“I don’t have any excuse. I have nothing to say other than that I am deeply sorry, sir. In our culture, we prostrate,” he said.
The apology comes months after a political disagreement between both men linked to the leadership crisis that rocked the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2025.
In May, Gbajabiamila disclosed that Elliot’s role in the attempt to remove Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos Assembly had almost cost the lawmaker his political career.
Obasa was removed from office after a majority of lawmakers accused him of gross misconduct and abuse of office. His removal paved the way for then-Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda to become the first woman to lead the Lagos Assembly.
Meranda, however, spent 49 days in office before resigning as Speaker. Obasa subsequently returned to the position following an intervention by President Tinubu.
Elliot later apologised to Gbajabiamila over his involvement in the leadership crisis, explaining that he had believed the move against Obasa had the backing of Tinubu.

The dispute reportedly affected the relationship between Elliot and Gbajabiamila, who later backed Odunuga-Bakare as his preferred candidate to succeed Elliot in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Gbajabiamila’s withdrawal of support did not stop Elliot from pursuing a fourth term in the assembly. He eventually contested the election but lost his bid.
Following the outcome, Elliot rejected the result and alleged that his supporters were intimidated and prevented from fully participating in the electoral process.
He also threatened to challenge the result, adding another chapter to the political dispute surrounding his bid for another term in the Lagos Assembly.
