Dr Deji Adeleke, elder brother of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has revealed that he remained confident his brother would win the governorship election despite what he described as the opposition’s support from the presidency.
Deji spoke in a video shared on X by user #OluwasayoElijiah on Monday during a celebration held in honour of Governor Adeleke’s victory on Sunday night.
The governor was declared the winner of the Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday.
Deji said he had privately prayed and fasted for his brother’s victory and never doubted the outcome of the election.
“I don’t discuss with anybody. I do it in the corner of my room. I do this every day. So, I was not worried. I had no doubt in my mind that Ademola will win. Ademola will overcome,” he said.
Explaining the source of his confidence, he added, “I fortify myself with the power of the Almighty God every day. And the day that I fast, I’ll do it three times a day. And nobody knew. I don’t discuss with anybody.”
Speaking about the opposition, Deji said no amount of political or financial influence could overcome what he described as God’s power.
“Let them come with all the battalions, withdraw the Army, bring all the money from the Central Bank. Nobody is above God Almighty,” he said.
He further alleged that the opposition relied on its perceived connection to the presidency, while his brother relied on God.

“He comes with his wickedness. He comes with the power that he thinks he has because he’s connected to the Presidency. But Ademola comes against them in the power of the Almighty God,” Deji added.
He also disclosed that his prayers included requests for the governor’s protection and victory.
“He dances and praises your name. So, Lord Almighty, God, the owner of the universe, show up for him,” he said.
Deji concluded by revealing the words he repeatedly used in his prayers concerning his brother’s election victory: “Ademola will defeat them.”
