Dbanj Tells Critics Of Alleged Rape Case, “Stop My Social Media Trial”

In what seems to be a reaction to the various calls which condemned his alleged arrest of the lady who accused him of rape on twitter, Seyitan Babatayo and her mum last week, music sensation, Dapo Oyebanjo aka Dbanj, has demanded for a stop of what he calls ‘social media trial’ of his person and brand.

Taking to Instagram, Dbanj played one of his tracks, ‘Kolebaje’ and danced.

He captioned the video it, “Innocent until proven guilty…., STOP SOCIAL MEDIA TRIAL 🏛🏛🏛⚖️⚖️⚖️ #SAY NO TO RAPE AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION”

A certain lady, Seyitan, had penultimate week, called out Dbanj for forcefully having sex with her in a Lagos hotel in 2018.

She said her hurt increased when she observed that the crooner also put up a post on Instagram condemning rape of some young ladies.

Currently, her lawyers have sent a letter to Dbanj demanding among other things that he apologized publicly.

Meanwhile, Dbanj had also sent a court notification through his legal counsel, Mike Ozekhome demanding for public apology with N100m as damages.

However, many celebrities have condemned the arrest of the lady and her mum last Friday after Dbanj had already taken a legal path seeking justice for his brand.

Among such celebrities was Nigerian singer and actor turned politician, Banky Wellington, who  shared his opinion about the rape allegation against fellow singer, D’banj.

The 2019 Federal House of Representatives candidate, condemned the alleged arrest and intimidation of the accuser, Seyitan Babatayo, and called expressed hope that justice will be served.

“The news lately has been so hard to read, but we must never support the oppressing or silencing of victims by the Police. If Dbanj truly was being falsely accused, then a ‘defamation of character’ lawsuit was the right move – but that’s where it should have stopped.” he wrote.

“Whether it was overzealous police officers/Dbanj/his handlers that orchestrated it – locking Seyitan and/or her Mom in jail, seizing her phone, preventing her from reaching her lawyers/family etc is completely wrong – and I hope Dbanj will denounce it himself,” he added.

Meanwhile, a petition which sought to see the United Nations, UN end the ambassadorial deal with singer, D’banj following a rape allegation against him garnered over 15, 000 signatures last week on twitter.

The petition was started by E.Pooola 20 hours ago on Change.Org had hit 14, 310 as of 11.10 am on Friday. Brands like Heritage Bank Africa, One Africa, CSA Global, and others are also asked to end their deals with the singer.

There were rumours that Heritage Bank, who made Dbanj , a brand ambassador on his birthday last week, had also withdrawn the contract which Dbanj tagged as one of his ‘biggest deals.”
