Grammy Award-winning American superstar Ciara Princess Wilson has returned to Lagos, Nigeria, for what has been described as a cultural homecoming that highlights the city’s growing influence in global tourism, art, and fashion.
Her visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of Lagos Fashion Week, an event supported by the Lagos State Government to promote creativity and cultural expression.
The development was confirmed on Thursday by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, who announced Ciara’s arrival in a post on X.
He wrote, “International Superstar, Grammy Award Winner, CIARA Princess Wilson is in Lagos, accompanied by the Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka. She will be joining us in Lagos to celebrate our Tourism, our Art, and our culture. It’s a homecoming for her and other creatives who see Lagos as home. She would visit different cultural sites in Lagos and also celebrate the successful hosting of the 15th anniversary of the Lagos Fashion Week in collaboration with Lagos State Government.”
Since her arrival, the award-winning singer has been actively engaging with the local culture, with clips of her Lagos experiences trending across social media.

In one viral video shared by Gawat, Ciara was captured dancing energetically as she was entertained by traditional performers at an art gallery. Dressed in a vibrant blue adire gown and matching headgear, she charmed onlookers when she declared, “Eko oni baje,” the iconic Lagos slogan meaning “Lagos will not be ruined.”
Gawat later confirmed in another post that the star also toured the Balogun Market, one of Lagos’ busiest commercial districts, as part of her cultural exploration.
Speaking about her impressions of the city, Ciara noted the significant infrastructure development since her last visit nearly a decade ago.
“I’m happy to be here. I’m really excited,” she said. “I know about Lagos. Lagos, from what I see, I’ve seen an evolution of Lagos. When I used to land, I used to see all the dirt roads; now what I see is pavement.”
This marks Ciara’s second visit to Lagos, following her memorable appearance in February 2016, when she headlined the “Love Like A Movie 3” concert at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island.
Her latest visit underscores Lagos’ reputation as a vibrant hub for African fashion, art, and entertainment, further solidifying the city’s position on the global cultural map.
