Champions League: Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has calmed concerns over William Saliba’s hamstring injury, expressing optimism about the defender’s return ahead of the Gunners’ pivotal clash against Manchester City in February.

Saliba missed Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday, a setback to their Premier League title ambitions.
While he remains unavailable for Wednesday’s Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb, Arteta is confident of his recovery timeline.
Arteta’s Update on Saliba:
He’s evolving well,” Arteta shared in a pre-match press conference. “The last few days he was feeling much better already, but this game comes a little bit too early for him.”
The manager anticipates Saliba’s return before their Premier League fixture with Manchester City on February 2.
Champions League Progress:
Arsenal is in a commanding position to secure a top-eight finish in the Champions League’s league phase, currently sitting third in the 36-team table. A win against Dinamo Zagreb would likely secure their spot in the last 16 with one game to spare, before a trip to Girona for their final group match.
“So far, we’ve done really well,” Arteta said. “Now it’s time to capitalise at home on the work that we’ve done for many months.”
Injury Woes Continue:
Arsenal remains plagued by injuries, particularly in attack. Bukayo Saka is sidelined until March following hamstring surgery, while Gabriel Jesus is out for the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament tear.
Arteta acknowledged the need to strengthen the squad but dismissed speculation about potential January signings.
“I get a lot of people texting me about players we’re after… I don’t even know what they’re talking about,” he stated, emphasizing his focus on immediate priorities.
As Arsenal aims for Champions League success and keeps their title hopes alive, managing their injury setbacks remains a critical challenge for Arteta.
