If she thought that would be the end of the issue of her divorce, then Nollywood actress, Biola Adebayo must be mistaken. Since she announced her separation and divorce in a post on her husband’s birthday, it has been a fluffy of posts, analyses and strange revelations.
Little wonder she blurted out in a post on social media to those who criticised and mocked her online following the public announcement of her failed marriage to Oluwaseyi Akinrinde.
In a video that began trending on Tuesday night, Biola Adebayo, whose podcast, ‘Talk To B’ has made her famous, explained that she decided to go public with the separation to stop misinformation and take control of the narrative surrounding her personal life.
She also clarified that her estranged husband was informed before she made the announcement.
“I am human. The other time I posted about my marriage, it was because I didn’t want people to tell my story for me, yet you all used it against me. I told my husband before I posted, so he was aware of the post. He knows I am not what people say I am, but God will reward everyone,” she said, switching between English and Yoruba.
The 43-year-old confirmed that she and her husband have been separated since April 2024. Despite the breakup, the actress said both parties are committed to co-parenting their son in a peaceful and mature way.
To fans who may have been disappointed by the news, the film star expressed regret that the marriage ended but stressed the importance of safeguarding her mental health. “It is better to be alive to tell the story,” she said.
The actress further revealed the emotional toll the situation has had on her, saying she endured many nights of distress despite keeping a cheerful appearance in public.
She ended her message by asking her followers to keep her family in their prayers.
