Folorunsho Alakija, the Nigerian billionaire businesswoman, says “nothing will threaten my peace” — amid rumour of crisis in her marriage.
Folorunsho and Modupe Alakija tied the knot in 1976. The couple have four children together.
Over the weekend, rumours circulated on social media that the businesswoman and her husband are now separated.
The reports claimed that the couple’s relationship has been strained for several years but they have maintained a united front due to their public status.
Modupe was said to have moved out of his matrimonial home in the Ikoyi area of Lagos. He is also said to be residing in the same neighborhood.
In the wake of the rumours, Alakija took to her X page to reveal that she will not be broken by negativity.
“Your heart will not be broken by evil-doers. Negativity will not break your heart,” she wrote.
“The enemies will not break your heart. Nothing shall threaten your peace.
“You will have peace in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Your peace will be all around and intact.”
Born on July 15, 1951, Folorunsho is a businesswoman and philanthropist who is extolled as Africa’s richest woman.
She is the group managing director of The Rose of Sharon Group and the executive vice chairman of Famfa Oil Limited.
Modupe, on the other hand, is a lawyer and the son of Adeyemo Alakija, the famed Nigerian legal practitioner.
In December 2021, the Ikoyi Club in Lagos suspended Modupe over alleged assault and abuse of its members.
