Indeed, this is tragic.
Just as family members are preparing to mark his late daughter, Funke Adedoyin’s third memorial service, popular Lagos billionaire and industrialist, Prince Samuel Adedoyin lost another daughter, Lola Olobayo on Tuesday August 17, 2021. Her death was reportedly caused by cardiac failure occasioned by COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Funke, a member of the House of Representatives and former Health minister died on September 28, 2018 after a futile battle with cancer. She was aged 56.
The tragedy that befell the 85-year-old billionaire has thrown many, especially in the Lagos social establishment into mourning considering the fact that his first wife, Princess Titilayo Adedoyin, who was late Funke’s mum, died on September 30, 2015 at age 74.
More tragic is the fact that prior to his late daughter, Olobayo’s death, his grandson, Subomi, died in controversial circumstances.
The late nee Adedoyin was married to sociable Ilorin, Kwara State-based millionaire, Prince John Olobayo, and a family source disclosed that Lola, who was said to be a loveable and decent person, died in a hospital in Lagos about seven days after admission and she had not seen her husband since the tragic death of their son.
Prince Adedoyin’s daughter, Funke, until her death in 2018, was the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army. Adedoyin also served as Minister of Youth Development and later as Minister of Health during the administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
