Troops have rescued a kidnapped couple after bandits abandoned them and fled during a gun battle with security forces in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims, Hassan Isah and his wife, Juliana Hassan, were rescued by troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE after security personnel responded to a report of their abduction in Ateli village.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that the incident occurred at about 12:30am on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Following the report, troops stationed at Mayir Garrison, supported by local vigilantes, launched a search operation to locate the victims and their abductors.
The security team eventually encountered the kidnappers, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the two sides.

“During the encounter, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled into the surrounding area, allowing the troops to rescue the couple safely,” Zagazola reported.
Hassan Isah sustained injuries during the incident and was subsequently taken to General Hospital, Wamba, where he was admitted for medical treatment.
Following the rescue, security personnel continued their efforts to locate the fleeing bandits.
Troops have also remained in the area as part of efforts to prevent further attacks and maintain security in the community.
