Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has issued a public apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson, following months of online confrontation between the two film stars.

The apology comes weeks after Okorie was arrested in Lagos by operatives of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and later remanded at the Suleja correctional centre. Her arraignment was linked to alleged cyber-related offences arising from the dispute with Johnson.

The disagreement began last year after Okorie claimed that Mercy Johnson was dealing with “an ailment I do not wish on my enemies.” She also accused Johnson of hypocrisy, alleging that her frequent use of religious language did not reflect her true character, and called on her to seek forgiveness from those she had wronged.

At the time, Johnson reacted with a brief and cryptic post addressing online hostility before withdrawing from the public exchange.

In a recent Instagram video, Okorie, who has since regained her freedom, addressed Mercy Johnson directly, offering an apology to her and her family. She expressed remorse for her actions and acknowledged the negative consequences of the feud.

According to Okorie, the fallout was fueled by misinformation and gossip within the industry, with different narratives being passed to both sides. She said she has now reached a stage in life where conflict no longer appeals to her.

“This video is specifically for Mercy, her kids and family. You know when we were getting older, a lot of things would leave you. When we growing in the industry, a lot of people would come and tell me that Mercy said and some people would tell Mercy that Angela said,” she said.

“There have been issues, quarrels, chaos, loggerheads and at this age, I do not think that this is what I want. The only thing I want right now is money, business. If you have business, please call me. I am no longer listening to those cheap gossips.”

The actress said she regretted every negative comment she made about Johnson, stressing that her words were not a true reflection of who her colleague is.

“I just want to apologise to you. If it is just my words, if it is the words that I have written anytime your name pops up on social media, I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch, you are not what people are calling you,” she added.

Okorie concluded her message by reflecting on the future of their children and condemning the bullying faced by Johnson’s children due to the online attacks.

“This is just to say I am sorry, we do not know where our kids would meet each other tomorrow,” she said.

“They might be best of friends. These kids have been traveling far and wide, they can meet anywhere in the world. I do not like the fact that they call my sis kids witches in school and they bully them. If they do it to my child, I would not take it. So this is to say I am sorry, deeply sorry for everything.”
