Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has renewed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid to secure a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Adeleke, who contested the August 15 governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, made his position known on Sunday while addressing journalists shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner.
Although Adeleke belongs to Accord and Tinubu is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the governor said he remained committed to his earlier endorsement of the President.
He described Tinubu as a son of Osun State and thanked him for what he described as his support for the conduct of a credible election.
“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr. President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election,” Adeleke said.
“Mr. President is a son of Osun state, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.”
Adeleke secured victories in 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas to retain the governorship, while APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji won 11 LGAs.

Oyebamiji finished second with 444,815 votes, while African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
The election recorded nearly one million votes and took place against the backdrop of heightened tension, following reports of violence and attacks in parts of the state before the poll.
Despite belonging to different political parties, Adeleke’s renewed endorsement means he is backing Tinubu for the 2027 presidential contest, in which Accord is not fielding a presidential candidate.
