Actress Funmi Awelewa has broken her silence after social media personality Mandy Kiss accused her of being responsible for some of the challenges she has faced.
The controversy erupted after a TikTok blogger claimed Mandy had fallen out with several people who once supported her, including Papaya, Toyin Abraham and Awelewa, who was previously regarded as her godmother.
Reacting to the allegation, Mandy clarified that her dispute was only with Papaya but insisted that both Abraham and Awelewa had treated her unfairly. She went on to describe Awelewa as her biggest regret, alleging that the actress had negatively affected her life.
“For my ex god mother, that’s my greatest mistake. She really ruined my life,” she said.
In response, Awelewa took to Instagram to deny the allegation, stating that she had always wanted the best for Mandy and only offered guidance in an effort to help her grow.
The actress explained that she eventually cut off communication after several attempts to advise Mandy proved unsuccessful. She also revealed that she became uncomfortable after discovering aspects of Mandy’s lifestyle that had been hidden from her.
According to Awelewa, she remained silent for years despite the accusations and insisted she never introduced Mandy to harmful influences or contributed to her problems.
“I blocked you without giving any closure because I don’t wanna have anything to do with you again after several advices. You claimed I ruined your life, how? Like how? I never introduced you to any man, not even once. I kept quiet for 3years,” she wrote.

“Why can’t you tell the world about the endorsement deals I gave you the link. I mean De’millionaire & Toplady’s hair brands. Why can’t you tell the world how I get to know about your smoking habit after you hide it for me. I wanted the best for you and I will never wish you bad. Mandy, can you please speak out at this point on how I damage your life.
“At this point, I’m not finding it funny anymore. Stop dragging my name into your predicament. You need to seek forgiveness from the creator and the people you offended. Get closer to God and live right.
“I’ve been through a lot and I have never for once hold anyone responsible for my own mistakes. Be accountable for what you did wrong. I didn’t do anything to you to deserve all this tbh. I have been living a lowkey lifestyle for years now. Please let me be!!! I challenge you to say what I did wrong.”
Awelewa further stated that her decision to distance herself was influenced by what she described as a lack of boundaries, particularly regarding religious matters.
“I was only mad at you because you don’t know how to set boundaries. If you can use the name of Almighty God to joke, you can with anyone. I’m a family oriented person and my parents don’t joke with the name of God and l also don’t joke with it,” she added.
“For the record, Mandy you didn’t hurt me, you didn’t offend me. I just don’t want to be around you anymore cuz being around me will make me uncomfortable and I’ma selfish being. I will choose myself over anybody in this sinful world.
“I’m not trying to judge you with your lifestyle but I’ll advise you to seek for forgiveness. I wish you a fresh starting your life and I pray for you to heal so you can stop talking about the past.”
The public exchange has continued to generate reactions online, with many followers weighing in on the fallout between the former associates.
