Nigerian actress Toyosi Adesanya has provided an update on the medical treatment of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following the family’s appeal for assistance over his health condition.
Ogogo’s family recently disclosed that the actor had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer, prompting an outpouring of concern and support from colleagues and members of the public.
One of his daughters, Kira, revealed that the family discovered the illness about three weeks earlier and that the cancer had affected his abdomen.
She said some medical facilities had informed the family that chemotherapy was no longer an option for the actor and appealed to the public for recommendations on alternative treatment.
Kira also acknowledged the assistance of Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West, saying he had been supporting the family with Ogogo’s medical expenses.
Her sister, Lima, disclosed that the senator had also pledged to continue providing financial assistance.
Lima further explained that Ogogo was not in a condition to travel abroad for treatment, responding to a suggestion made by socialite Yhemo Lee.
In a recent Instagram post, Adesanya disclosed that Adeola had taken further steps by connecting the actor with what she described as “top cancer specialists”.
The actress expressed hope that the medical intervention would be successful.
“Senator Yayi personally reached out to top cancer specialists, and we are grateful to learn that Ogogo has now been admitted to the operating theatre for treatment,” she wrote.
