Ashleigh Plumptre has distanced herself from a Facebook page impersonating her and spreading allegations against officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
On Monday, the account, which falsely presented itself as Plumptre, claimed the defender had been removed from the Super Falcons squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after refusing to comply with demands allegedly made by “corrupt officials.”
The post further alleged that the defender intended to “step back” because of the reported bribery request.
Despite being unaffiliated with the player, the Facebook page currently carries verification status and has attracted more than 2,000 followers, with many users reacting to the claims against the NFF.
Responding on Tuesday, Plumptre used her official Instagram account, which has more than 130,000 followers, to clarify that she has no connection to the Facebook page.
The 28-year-old defender urged supporters and followers to report the impersonating account so it could be removed from the platform.

Born in Leicester, England, Plumptre switched international allegiance to Nigeria in 2021 through her Nigerian grandfather.
She has since become one of the key figures in the Super Falcons setup and played an important role in the team’s successful campaign that delivered a record 10th WAFCON title in 2025.
