The Presidency has warned that Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan could face prosecution over an alleged fake audio recording linked to President Bola Tinubu.

The controversy followed a post shared on X by user @Pious_minister, which featured a video allegedly containing an AI-generated audio clip mimicking Tinubu’s voice.

In the recording, the voice purportedly claimed that insecurity in Nigeria would persist because Nigerians did not vote for him during the 2023 presidential election.

Reacting to the development, presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga condemned the circulation of the audio and accused VeryDarkMan of spreading false content online.

“This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu,” Onanuga wrote on his official X account.

“This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform,” he added.

However, further checks reportedly showed that the alleged audio clip could not be found in any of VeryDarkMan’s publicly available videos, raising questions about the authenticity of the claim against him.
