A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has outlined what he would do first if elected president, saying his administration would focus on enforcing the rule of law.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday night, Amaechi said restoring order and strengthening legal institutions would be his immediate priority if he becomes Nigeria’s president.
“The first thing I will do as president of Nigeria is the rule of law. There has to be law and order,” he said.
Amaechi also accused President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of allegedly using hardship as a political tool, claiming that voters are influenced through economic pressure.
According to him, Nigerians may accept food items during elections but would still vote based on their judgment.
“A bag of rice does not solve hunger for the rest of the year. If APC is as strong as they claim, why are they not allowing opposition parties to thrive?” he asked.

He further questioned what he described as interference in state institutions and political processes by the ruling party.
“If the APC said they are strong, why are they influencing the government institutions against the opposition? Why won’t they leave the rule of law?” he said.
