Mrs Favour Ayuba, the grieving mother of a young man identified as Promise, who was killed in a recent attack in Jos, Plateau State, has made an emotional appeal to her late son to seek revenge for his death.
In a viral video seen on Friday, the distraught mother appeared overwhelmed with grief as she spoke about the loss, revealing that she had not eaten since the attack that claimed her son’s life.
Earlier footage showed Mrs Ayuba weeping uncontrollably while holding the lifeless body of her son, who was reportedly killed by suspected terrorists during the Palm Sunday violence in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, where at least 24 people were killed and several others injured.
In the latest video, she was seen speaking in Hausa while bringing out a cutlass wrapped in white cloth, which she had concealed under her clothing, before placing it inside her son’s coffin.
“If you want me to forget, baby, avenge your death. I carried you in my womb for nine months; you suckled at my breast. Baby, I trust you revenge for me, revenge for me. Please, wherever they are, follow them and avenge your death,” she said.
Struggling with emotions, she continued, referencing her son’s birthday and expressing her pain.

“Today (Thursday) is your birthday. I am grateful to God that today is your birthday, baby. You don’t like seeing me in tears, and I will not weep for you. Baby, I have not eaten since Sunday.
“I am begging you, because you have not warmed food for me to eat, but from today I promise you I will eat. I have a gift for you, baby. I trust you; I named you Promise Gideon Ayuba. Gideon in the Bible went to war and came back victorious,” she added.
The incident is part of the wave of violence that has continued to affect Plateau State, leaving families devastated and communities in mourning.
