The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) has called off its indefinite strike after 30 days of industrial action.
Dr. George Ebong, President of ARD-FCTA, confirmed the suspension in a message to PUNCH on Monday, explaining that the decision followed the approval of their demands by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
However, the doctors cautioned that they could resume the strike if the approved demands are not fully implemented within four weeks.
Dr. Ebong stated, “ARD-FCTA has suspended its strike for four weeks with the hope that the approvals from Mr. Minister will be implemented.”

The association, which comprises doctors working in 14 district and general hospitals as well as the Department of Public Health under the FCTA, had embarked on the strike on November 1, 2025. Their industrial action sought to push for better working conditions, improved welfare, fair remuneration, and other professional enhancements.
The strike had significantly disrupted medical services across the FCT, causing delays in patient care and placing additional strain on the remaining healthcare staff.
