The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the South-West Zonal Campaign Coordinator for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The appointment was announced by the Presidency on Saturday as part of the unveiling of members of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima will be the vice-chairman. Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari was named Director-General, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma appointed secretary.
Sanwo-Olu, who chairs the South-West Governors’ Forum, will oversee campaign activities in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
The Lagos governor is expected to work with APC leaders at the national, zonal and state levels to mobilise support for Tinubu and expand the party’s influence across the region ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Sanwo-Olu previously chaired the APC Governorship Campaign Council in Ondo State during the 2020 and 2024 governorship elections, both of which ended with victories for the party.
