Reputed to always celebrate her husband in many write-ups on social media, the number 4 wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Queen Ashley, is in high spirits as her firstborn child, Prince Ademakiwa Adewale marks his first birthday
It’s celebration time in the palace at Ile Ife as Prince Ademakinwa Adewale Ogunwusi clocks a year old today, September 3, 2025.
The excited parents, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his wife Queen Afolashade Ashley are also celebrating the handsome prince whose birth must have cemented their love for each other.
Prince Ademakinwa’s parents took to Instagram to celebrate him.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the highly revered monarch described the child as a blessing to him and the throne of Oduduwa and admonished him to remain steadfast in continuing in the precepts of royalty.
The Ooni of Ife wrote, “My beloved son, Omooba Ademakinwa. You are a true blessing to me and to the sacred throne of Oduduwa. As you continue to grow in wisdom, strength and grace, always remember the divine heritage you carry as a prince of Ile-Ife.
“As you celebrate your birthday, may your path be guided by the values of honor, humility, and service to humanity. I am proud to see you walking in the light of Olodumare as you are one today! With fatherly love and royal blessings.”
In the same vein, Queen Ashley marked the occasion with a video compilation from the labour and birth of the young prince.
Queen Ashley wrote, “Happy 1st Birthday to Our beloved SONshine, Prince ADEMAKINWA. Olodumare made your arrival a smooth and beautiful journey from the first scan to the moment I carried you in my arms. You are a testimony of Olodumare MOROJUREOLODUMARE, and I am forever grateful.
“To my darling husband, @ooniadimulaife Olori Alade gbogbo, thank you for your love and support throughout my pregnancy and beyond even at the theatre you were there on the phone. You are a caring father and a devoted husband, and we are truly blessed to have a great father and amazing husband, whose love and guidance enrich our family.
“Our son, may you continue to grow in wisdom, strength, and grace, and may your life shine brighter with each passing year. You are deeply loved.”
Prince Ademakinwa was born on September 3, 2024 at Princess Royal Hospital, London, United Kingdom.
At the time of his birth, Queen Ashley revealed that she had previously suffered a miscarriage of twins.
She said, “Last year was a little dark as our set of twins gained their wings at 14 weeks, but Olodumare remained faithful, he said what you need is a son to carry your forbears’ lineage, a double crown prince, now he has blessed us with our son, who is not just only a prince of the source, but our crown prince from both sides of his parents.”
Oba Ogunwusi married Queen Ashley as his fourth wife in October 2022.
