Managing director of EeZee Conceptz, Nancy Nnadi, popularly known as Coach Nancy, has retracted her allegations against gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and confirmed that peace talks are underway between the singer and her former record label boss EeZee Tee.

In a post shared on Instagram, Coach Nancy wrote:

“On the advice of my lawyer, and for the sake of peace and love of God, I retract my earlier post about Minister Mercy Chinwo. I also pray Almighty God perfects the ongoing settlement process being facilitated by the Fathers of Faith between her and EeZee Conceptz.”

The development follows months of public back-and-forth between Chinwo and EeZee Conceptz over royalties from her hit song ‘Roya,’ contract obligations and content ownership.

Sources close to EeZee Tee, born Ezekiel ThankGod, had earlier revealed that he is willing to resolve the dispute outside the courtroom.

“He wants to settle out of court,” the source said.

In an earlier statement shared online, EeZee Tee had accused Mercy Chinwo’s team of manipulation.

“Mercy Chinwo’s team has manipulated the situation and are misusing connections,” he wrote on Instagram.

The record label boss alleged that Mercy Chinwo failed to deliver a third studio album as agreed in their contract and withheld revenue from performances and digital streaming platforms. He claimed she received about $625,000 from a 50/50 revenue-sharing deal and was still demanding more.

The dispute escalated in January when EeZee Tee was arrested and detained by the EFCC following a petition from Chinwo’s team. He later said he was released after transferring $274,000 to her.

Mercy Chinwo, who signed with EeZee Conceptz in 2017 and exited in 2022, denied the allegations. The ‘Na You Dey Reign’ singer alleged that the label withheld her royalties from 2022 to 2024 and also blocked her from ministering at events, including a scheduled performance at Bishop Felix Omobude’s church.

She also claimed EeZee Tee altered the original contract by changing the signing year from 2017 to 2019 without her knowledge.

In addition to the royalties saga, Mercy Chinwo took legal action against Coach Nancy, who had posted damaging claims about her on social media. Chinwo’s lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi issued a demand letter requesting a public apology and the removal of the posts, citing email and bank evidence disproving Nancy’s statements.

Following legal pressure and public scrutiny, Coach Nancy deleted the defamatory post and issued her retraction.

“I also pray Almighty God to perfect the ongoing settlement process,” she added.

The controversy drew responses from other gospel insiders. Music producer Dr Roy, who previously worked with both parties, said he was not trolling Mercy Chinwo but calling out alleged injustice from the label. YouTuber Beingreal George described the conflict as an attack on the Nigerian gospel industry.

Mercy Chinwo, who is now signed to GNT Nation, a label founded by her husband Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, has not publicly commented on the reported settlement talks. She recently filed a separate N1.1 billion defamation suit against activist VeryDarkMan over comments made regarding her music.

Religious leaders referred to as the “Fathers of Faith” are said to be mediating the reconciliation process.
