The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze, from a suspected armed robber and ritualist in a hotel located in the Wuse district of Abuja.

According to a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the victim was found unconscious, tied to a chair, with her mouth covered in plaster when officers arrived at the scene on January 31, 2025, following a distress call from hotel staff.

She was immediately rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where she regained consciousness.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Promise had checked into the hotel on January 30 with a man who identified himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos. However, it was later discovered that the suspect had met her online under the alias Michael Prince, claiming to be an oil company worker from Delta State.

The suspect allegedly lured her into the hotel, brandished a dagger, tied her up, and stole her two mobile phones before fleeing. Before escaping, the victim overheard him speaking to suspected accomplices, telling them he would return to “finish the job.

The FCT Police Command has launched an intense manhunt for the suspect and urged residents to be cautious when meeting people they only know online. Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, reassured the public that efforts are underway to track down the suspect and ensure justice is served.

Residents with any useful information have been urged to report to the authorities via emergency hotlines.
