President Bola Tinubu has expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia’s leadership for granting him and members of his delegation access to the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, where they offered prayers during his official visit to the kingdom.
The President also confirmed that he performed Umrah, the lesser Hajj, during the trip, using the opportunity to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and prosperity.
Tinubu disclosed this on Monday in a post on his verified X account, @officialABAT, following the conclusion of his visit to the Gulf nation.
He described entering Islam’s holiest shrine and undertaking the pilgrimage as a memorable spiritual experience, particularly because it allowed him to seek divine blessings for Nigeria and its citizens.
The President specifically thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for extending the privilege to him and his delegation.
He also commended the Saudi authorities for their hospitality and the warm reception accorded to the Nigerian team throughout their stay.
Tinubu said the gesture further demonstrated the longstanding religious and diplomatic ties between both countries.
“It reflects the enduring bonds of faith and friendship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia,” the President stated.
He added that his prayers during the visit focused on the country’s future and the well-being of its people.
“In those sacred moments, I prayed for peace, unity and prosperity for our dear nation and for all Nigerians,” he said.

Nigeria and Saudi Arabia maintain longstanding relations based on shared Islamic heritage, mutual respect and cooperation in several areas of common interest.
Saudi Arabia remains an important partner to Nigeria in trade, investment and religious affairs. The kingdom also receives thousands of Nigerian Muslims annually for the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
Tinubu’s visit provided another opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and reaffirm their commitment to continued cooperation.
