The former Group Managing Director of Nigerian Army Properties Limited, Maj. Gen. Umaru Mohammed has been sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing funds.

The Nigerian Army Special Court-martial, sitting in Abuja, convicted him on October 10, 2023.

The court found Gen. Mohammed guilty of 14 out of 18 charges related to forgery, misappropriation of funds, and conspiracy.

He was ordered to repay $2,178,900 and N1.65 billion to the Army properties and NAPL.

The sentencing is subject to confirmation by the “confirming authority.” Gen. Mohammed had spent over two years in detention before his sentencing.
