Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has reminisced about his long-standing relationship with Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, revealing that the two shared a bunk bed during their boarding school days nearly five decades ago.
Otedola made the disclosure on Monday after hosting a dinner in honour of Hamzat, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
In a post on his X account, Otedola described Hamzat as a longtime acquaintance whose character he had observed since their school days.
“Yesterday, I hosted dinner in honour of @DrObafemiHamzat, the incoming Governor of Lagos State. A man of the highest integrity, with whom I shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago,” Otedola wrote.
The businessman also praised Hamzat’s personal qualities, citing honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral values as traits that had characterised his interactions with the deputy governor over the years.
“My experience of his character over the years has been defined by his honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles,” he added.
The private dinner attracted some of Nigeria’s leading business figures, including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu.
