A 19-year-old Nigerian teenager, Samuel Adeniyi, whose determination to succeed went viral online, has received massive support from Nigerians, including an education scholarship and cash donations exceeding N8 million.
Samuel’s story first gained attention after it was shared by content creator Bayuztv on Tuesday. In the viral video, the teenager was seen selling plastic waste and cartons in a bid to raise money to buy basic tools needed to fully start his tiling business. The video sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians moved by his resilience and eagerness to work.
Speaking in the video while dropping off a sack filled with recyclable waste, Samuel explained that a friend introduced him to the job after learning about his desire to acquire tiling equipment.
“I need money to buy my work tool. Tiling work, I learnt it at 17, I couldn’t celebrate my freedom from the job because there was no money. I need a cutting machine, a mallet, and a knife. I make N1,000 to N2,000 from a sack that I bring here,” he said.
Touched by his story, Bayuztv immediately intervened by taking Samuel for a haircut, buying him new clothes to replace his dirty outfit, and treating him to a meal at a restaurant. Impressed by the teenager’s passion for tiling, the content creator went further to purchase a tiling cutting machine for him, gifted him a new phone, and gave him N50,000 to cater for other personal needs.
Samuel later led the interviewer to his mother, who emotionally prayed for Bayuztv, expressing gratitude for coming through for her son.

On Thursday, Bayuztv returned to visit Samuel and his mother again. During the visit, the woman disclosed that her husband was no longer with them and described their living conditions as a constant struggle.
“I have been praying to God to help me. In December, I specifically told Him that if He helps me provide for my family, I will praise Him forever. I need like N200,000 to N300,000 to restart my palm oil business that previously crashed,” she said.
In response, the interviewer presented her with N1 million in cash and accompanied her to a mall, where she selected food items worth about N700,000.
Announcing another major development, Bayuztv revealed the scale of public support Samuel had received. “Your boy has gotten over N8 million in donations and scholarships from secondary school to university level,” he said.
Overwhelmed with joy, both Samuel and his mother rolled on the floor in excitement, repeatedly thanking Nigerians for their generosity and life-changing support.
