A woman was rescued by local fishermen after she allegedly jumped into the Lagos Lagoon from the Idumota-Carter Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.
A video shared on X by user #ChuksErice captured the aftermath of the incident, showing the woman seated inside a wooden canoe after she was pulled from the water.
The footage showed a fisherman paddling the canoe away from the bridge while the woman, who appeared visibly disoriented, remained seated.
Several onlookers gathered on the bridge as the rescue unfolded, with many expressing shock and wondering what could have driven the woman to jump into the lagoon.
A woman speaking in Yoruba was heard asking, “What were you thinking to that extent?”
Another bystander said, “I can never kill myself because of thinking,” while someone else responded, “Pray to never be in that position.”
As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear, and there was no official information on the woman’s condition after she was rescued.
The video has since sparked widespread reactions on X, with many users expressing concern for the woman’s wellbeing and questioning the events that led to the incident.
Reacting to the footage, an X user identified as James JERRY questioned why the woman appeared to have been left alone in the canoe shortly after the rescue.
