Wizkid calls rap music ‘repetitive’ and ‘boring’ in a recent interview. In a recent interview with 10 Magazine, Afrobeats superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, speaks about Afrobeats as the ‘new pop’ and claims he doesn’t listen to rap music despite having featured two of the world’s biggest rappers – Drake and Skepta – on his songs, he still thinks rap is boring and repetitive.

Speaking of Afrobeats as the new pop, Wizkid says he sold two million copies off of one song (‘Essence’) in America. ‘Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record’, he points out. He then says that he doesn’t listen to any other genre of music anymore and that rap isn’t how it used to be—‘I don’t listen to rap – that shit is boring to me’. He continues, ‘It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats, same flows’.
