Gunmen have killed the resident pastor of the Living Faith Church aka Winners’ Chapel, Romi New Extension, in Kaduna State, Jeremiah Omolara.

A source said the pastor’s wife was kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja Road while they were both travelling to Abuja.

The son was said to have escaped the attack.

The source said the kidnappers are demanding N50 million as ransom.

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna, Joseph Hayab, has confirmed the incident.

Hayab lamented the increasing rate of kidnappings in Kaduna, especially the abduction of clerics.

He said that the parish priest of Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area was last Thursday attacked at his residence, while his security guard was killed.

“We feel strongly that the Federal Government and the Inspector-General of Police should do something about Kaduna,” he said.

Hayab added that in the same Kajuru LGA, a 13-year-old daughter of a Baptist pastor was abducted.

Kajuru has been besieged by increasing rate of banditry, killings and kidnapping, with the state government placing curfew in some towns in the local government to curb the violence.
