Controversial rapper Speed Darlington is currently under investigation by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) following a viral Instagram live video in which he admitted to defiling a 15-year-old girl.
In the disturbing video, narrated in Igbo, Speed Darlington recounted an incident from about ten years ago at a hotel where he claimed to have slept with a 15-year-old virgin, resulting in bloodied sheets.
He also mentioned paying N2,000 to hotel staff to change the sheets, expressing disdain for working for others, especially in hotels.
The Lagos DSVA responded promptly to the video, describing it as disturbing and acknowledging the challenge of jurisdiction since the entertainer did not specify the location of the incident.
Consequently, the agency escalated the matter to NAPTIP to ensure a thorough investigation. The DSVA reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance policy against sexual and gender-based violence and committed to protecting every Nigerian child.
The statement read, “The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency is aware of the disturbing video currently circulating online, in which a popular entertainer allegedly admits to engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
“While the individual in question did not specify the location of the incident during the Instagram Live session, we must clarify that the DSVA’s jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State.
“In view of the above, and in line with our commitment to justice, we have escalated the situation to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.”
NAPTIP also reacted on social media, urging a full investigation and coordinating with Lagos DSVA to address the allegations.
This is not the first time Speed Darlington has been embroiled in controversies related to minors.
In 2022, he publicly revealed an altercation with a neighbor who accused him of inappropriate conduct with a 16-year-old girl.
Additionally, in 2023, he faced backlash for openly seeking underage girlfriends and boasting about sexual freedom in Nigeria compared to the United States.
