Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo on Saturday wept sorely while reacting to the death of her colleague and friend, Rachel Oniga.
Speaking intermittently between tears, Patience said in an Instagram video that she never knew Rachel was sick.
Rachel, 64, died on Friday night. According to her son, she had typhoid and malaria.
“If anyone had told me it’d be so soon I wouldn’t have believed it,” Patience said, adding that she and Rachel spoke on the set of Chief Daddy 2.
Captioning her post, she revealed that they discussed many issues while on set and they promised to see each other again.
Ozokwo wrote, “My heart is broken. We planned so many things we were going to do together. Her last words to me ‘Don’t forget me oooh’ and I said ‘NEVER’”
She further described Rachel as a wonderful actress, bold and beautiful and a sister from another mother.
Fondly called Mama G by her fans, Patience, who said she was out of the country, added that she wouldn’t have believed the news if she didn’t see it on the platform of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Rachel’s death has thrown the movie industry into mourning.
Born on May 23, 1957; Rachel began her career in 1993. Her first movie was the blockbuster, Onome, while her debut movie in the Yoruba speaking sector of the film industry was Owo Blow.
